Preschool and K4 Curriculum
The Academy preschool program is divided in two groups, the Preschool (3 years) and K4 (pre-kindergarten) programs.
The preschoolers learn to identify and comprehend numbers 1 to 10. They will learn that numbers are part of our everyday life. Math skills are explored through different activities like shape and color recognition, sequencing, counting, measuring, and sorting, art projects, games, songs, and work sheets. They will learn that letters compile into words, and will be able to recognize all the alphabet letters by the end of the school year. Fine motor skills are developed by tracing letters and numbers.
In the K4 class, children will learn to count to 100 by 1s, 5s, and 10s. They will be able to write numbers 1 to 25. They will learn positional and opposite words. They will explore measuring, sorting, and sequencing in more detail. They will also learn the phonetic sounds of each letter. They will be introduced to different sight words every week and will begin to learn the proper letter formation that will help in pre-writing skills.
Both programs include science and gym. Our program will help to build a child's self-esteem by teaching self care and self-respect. Our program includes songs, games and other activities that will help each child to learn and feel good about themselves. They will learn that they are unique in their own way and that God made them very special. They will also gain a strong understanding of themselves and the environment around them.
Our program also focuses on language skills. The children will develop these skills through circle time, stories, fun games, poems, and songs. Language skills are also developed through interacting with their friends, learning to take turns, sharing and participating in group discussion, and above all having a good time. We believe that children learn best when they are happy and interested in what is being taught.
The Bible and its precepts undergird the whole of our program. We teach the children that God loves them unconditionally and that they are special to Him. We teach that God loves the whole world and cares about His creation. The Bible teaches us how to treat one another, how to be respectful, kind and obedient. Our Bible program will help build a spiritual foundation to last a lifetime.
